'Tinnitus Management at Home' is a halfway-house between the totally self-directed Tinnitus E-Programme and working one to one with me in clinic or via Skype.
This is a new venture for me and one that I hope will appeal to those of you who are happy enough for the most part to work through a structured course of tinnitus management without having to attend booked clinic or Skype sessions, but who would like some additional support when you feel you need it.
Initial Basic Assessment
The very first step is to email me firstname.lastname@example.org to request the initial basic assessment forms. There are 3 of them: one is called the Tinnitus Sample Case History Questionnaire (TSCHQ); the second is the Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI) and the third is the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Alternatively, you can download them now:
Once you have completed them, save each of them to your computer and email them on to me. There is no fee for this initial basic assessment, but it will enable me to assess whether Tinnitus Management at Home is likely to be suitable for you.
Once I have received all 3 of your completed questionnaires, I will contact you by email either confirming that we can go ahead or giving you my reasons why Tinnitus Management at Home would not be suitable for you.
Reasons why Tinnitus Management at Home would be unsuitable:
More than a mild-moderate hearing loss
Very high levels of anxiety and/or depression
Very poor sleep
A combination of the above
It may be that your questionnaires seem borderline, in which case I will tell you and leave the decision up to you.
What happens if you decide a few weeks in to Tinnitus Management at Home that you would prefer to work one to one with me after all?
You will have lost nothing financially. Whatever you have paid for Tinnitus Management at Home will be deducted from the normal one to one fees. So really, you have nothing to lose whatsoever.
What happens after the initial basic assessment?
Once we have agreed that Tinnitus Management at Home is suitable for you, I will invoice you for the payment. Upon receipt of payment (either PayPal or direct bank payment) I will send you your first Tinnitus Management at Home pack by email. You can also choose at this stage if you would like an early 60 minute Skype session or if you'd prefer to arrange it later in the course. Additional Skype sessions can always be arranged, but these will need to be booked and paid for in addition to the main course fee. Hopefully, you'll not need any though, as this course is intended to work as it stands.
The Tinnitus Management at Home course comprises six packs including screencast videos that you can access online with a password I will send you upon registering. Each pack is emailed to you weekly on a Monday. Each pack includes a Worksheet that you can either keep for your own records, or you can send them to me by email.
Tinnitus Management at Home walks you through the process of managing tinnitus. There are 3 main components to this:
Physiological management using breathing, relaxation and meditation
What is the fee for Tinnitus Management at Home?
The Tinnitus Management at Home fee is £150.00 (GBP)
This is the same fee as a one to one assessment costs in my usual clinics, so a huge saving. The 6 session one to one structured course in my clinic is £350.00, so you will be saving yourself £350.00. However, please do be aware that patients that attend my clinic most often require the longer 12 session course because of the complexity of their needs. The Tinnitus Management at Home course is unlikely to be suitable for individuals requiring this level of help.
What would I pay if I decide to transfer to clinic or Skype sessions?
The normal clinical fees less the £150.00 already paid. Details of clinical fees are available on request - please email email@example.com
