Research

I have worked collaboratively with the NIHR NHBRC (National Institute of Health Research, Nottingham Hearing Biomedical Research Centre), the leading UK Tinnitus Research facility at the University of Nottingham, since 2014. My main NHBRC contact is Dr Derek Hoare, Associate Professor in Hearing Sciences and Research Lead in Tinnitus & Hyperacusis

Completed

2013-2016 Stages 1 & 2 Evaluation of the on-line self-help Tinnitus E-Programme (PhD Project)
Published: Kate Greenwell, Debbie Featherstone, Derek Hoare (2015) The application of intervention coding methodology to describe the Tinnitus E-Programme, an internet-delivered self-help intervention for tinnitus, American Journal of Audiology  Access here

The Tinnitus E-Programme (TEP) was launched on-line in June 2009. It ran for 9 years as a wholly Self-Directed and free to access intervention. Originally, the course content was based on the materials I used over many years in East Lancashire NHS for the Tinnitus Management Group Course (TMGC). In 2018, the TEP became therapist-supported. It was also moved away from being website-based to being hosted on a purpose-built learning platform. Suitable for up to a moderate TFI (32-53%), it was a 6 module programme.

NOTE: The original 6 module programme was superseded in 2020 by what became CBT4T Online, an affordable online programme developed specifically for individuals with a Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI) in categories 4 & 5.
